Candy And Quilts. Life Is Good.

Posted: 8 December 2008 at 9:10 p.m.

It's one of the inarguable facts of the universe; Quilters like candy. So, to show you what a caring and sensitive person I am, I am going to share with you a recipe that combines three of the best things in life. #1. Sweet.  #2 Salty. #3 Easy.

Start with these items. You can use any kind of Kisses that you want. I prefer the Candy Cane ones because I think the red and white stipes look festive, but when you consider the fact that these little babies get gobbled up before they've even had a chance to get halfway cooled off, I suppose that it really doesn't matter if they look festive or not.

KissTreats1

Cut a sheet of the parchment paper to fit your cookie sheet. (you'll want to use parchment paper to make cleanup easy. easy cleanup is good. if God didn't want us to have easy cleanup, He never would invented parchment paper.) Lay out rows of pretzel rings. Crowd them in nice and tight so you can get the making part over with and begin the eating part as quickly as possible. Unwrap your Kisses and put one Kiss inside of each pretzel ring.

 KissTreats2

Bake them at 350 degrees for three minutes. No more than that. I mean it. You don't want them to melt, you just want them to soften.

KissTreats3

As soon as you take them out of the oven, stick an M & M right smack in the middle of each softened Kiss, and smush it down just hard enough to make the Kiss blurp out and fill up the whole ring.

KissTreats4

Set the treats aside to fully cool. If you live here in Minnesnowta, you can just set them out on the front step in the snowbank, where they'll cool really fast, melt the snow underneath, and cause the cookie sheet to freeze to the step.

KissTreats5

That's it! That's all there is to it! See? I told you they're easy.

News Flash! My friend Audrey who works at the Post Office told me today that you can make these treats with Rollo caramel/chocolate candies instead of Kisses, and you can substitute a pecan for the M & M! I am SO trying this variation. Audrey is my New Best Friend.

Well, these were so easy to make, Thanks for the "recipe". I ended up making mine using square pretzels, couldn't find the ring type. I just placed the kiss on top and when it is squished down it fills the little holes in the pretzels, but leaves a big blob on top too!

Kim. Kim. Kim. (she says while shaking her head). Now how am I going to stay on Weight Watchers through the holidays with you posting recipes like this?! (As she grabs her coat and purse to head out to the store with shopping list in hand--at the top of the list: Pretzels, Kisses...)

We make these with Brachs Milk Chocolate Stars and M&Ms. They are good with the Rolos, too!! I think they are my favorite treat at Christmas, but they go down very easy and you can eat way more than you planned really fast!
